Passage from Isaiah 38

I read today an interesting passage from Isaiah 38 where the prophet Isaiah told King Hezekiah that he should get his affairs in order because he was going to die. The king was so distraught by this that he wept and prayed and appealed to God to spare his life and you know God did. He added 15 years to his life and the King was so happy. Hezekiah was so pleased by the extension on his life that he wront a poem to describe how lucky he was and how only the living can offer up praises. He goes on to say that living with the anguish of a certain death had caused him to be more disciplined and that discipline was a good thing for it leads to better health and a better life.

Interesting how God works in all kinds of ways to provide guidance or discipline if you want to call it like Hezekiah. Even sickness can be a form of guidance in our lives. The good news is, God understands and has a handle on what is happening in our lives and even through sickness, you can see (somedays not as clearly) God's handling of our situations.
