The next hurdle is behind us and now we move on
I finished the final weekend at Rex two weeks ago when they administered the final of 3 rounds of ICE which, take my word for it was not the ice I would have preferred! Even after getting out, I expected the ususal down week and sure enough on Tuesday here it came trotting up ready to whack me. I handled it with the ususal sluggishness and lots of hanging around in the bed. Time actually does march by quicker than you think. I am still shaking off the effects of those three treatments even 10 days later but we are making progress.
Here was a treat for me, I had promised to take Ryan fishing and last Friday I did. I took him and two of his buddies to Lake Jordan for a day of manly man fishing! We packed cans of beanie weanies and made bologna and cheese sandwiches and set off for a day away from computers, cell phones and the rush of the civilized world. We fished for hours but did not bring in that trophy fish that we had hoped. As I talked with Ryan about the slow day we were having on the lake he said, "sometimes it doesn't matter if they are biting or not, it is just being out there." What a profound statement from my "head in the clouds" 16 year old.
We finished our day about 2 o'clock vowing to return and do more damage to those fish than we had. The fish were releaved and we were refreshed and ready to get back to our routines. The Beanie Weanies and sandwiches were devoured with great pleasure shortly after we arrived and a new fishing hole was found so the day was good!
