Update from the PET Scan and a meeting with the Doctor
This update will be twofold as it will catch you up on the results of my latest PET and a doctor visit today.
WELL, The results were somewhat good. It showed only one active area in my left chest, (NOT LUNG) chest. Unfortunately the area has grown instead of being KAPUT after Chemotherapy. Fast forward to today,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
In a meeting with my radiologist/oncologist he said there are a couple of options, He is going to go to a meeting this weekend and present my case to his collegues and solicit their input......not all too uncommon I am told. I have options of Radiation which he says will deliver almost instanteous results or perhaps a differenct regimine of Chemotherapy. He said cases like mine are pretty common where the original area shrunk but did not go away and flared up after chemotherapy. He wants to get opinions on where it is prudent to do more Chemo then radiation or radiation then chemo or just radiation. He said we want to pick the right order because we are going for the cure not a fix...... I like his attitude!
At any rate I should know by Monday and if it is radiation, then it will be every day for about 5 weeks then an assessment. His concern is if this one spot is zapped could there be a chance it would then show up somewhere else and that is the big unknown.....
I ask that you offer a prayer for me and let God help these guys decide. God is going to work this out I know it. I never expected this to be a quick 6 month fix. In talking to my friends who have cancer and beat it, they were in it for a year or two before they got ahead of it.
Keep the faith!
